For example, we can create a square object using the line command, but you will find that the lines are disconnected from each other and do not become a single object. The question is, how to unite these lines?

To join two or more lines in AutoCAD, if you are using AutoCAD versions above 2010, you can use the join command.

Click modify on the cafe menu then select joint or type join (enter)

Select the line object (enter)

 Automatically the lines become a single unit

How to merge lines in Autocad version 2010

If you are using autocad version 2010 or an earlier version, then you cannot directly use the joint command as above. You can use another command which has the same function:

PEDIT method.

The PEDIT method in AutoCAD is a tool / command that functions to combine 2 or more lines to become a polyline object even though the coordinates are different and the X and Y axes are different but still in one UCS.

The way to use the PEDIT command in AutoCAD is:

Click modify on the cafe menu then click object and select polyline or

 Type the PEDIT command on the command line then enter.

 Select object (one of the lines to be merged) then

 Type Y ( yes ) to combine then enter.

Choose the joint method or type J on the command line then enter.

Select all the lines to be joined then enter.

 Enter for ok.

Region method.

 The Region method in AutoCAD is a tool or command that functions to combine two or more lines to become a polyline object even though the coordinates are different, the coordinate axes are still in one UCS and the shape of the line forms a closed geometry with one another.

The way to use the Region command in AutoCAD is:

Click Draw on the cafe menu then select a region. Or

Type region or reg in the command line then enter.

 Select all the lines that will be in the region then enter.

Note: Usually how to combine lines in AutoCAD is used to form 3D objects
